April Drum & Journey Circle - Seed Planting

Happy Birthday to US! This month we begin our second year of meeting in circle to drum & journey together! What an amazing time we’ve had, outdoors with the moon and fire and the trees and the deer…indoors with candles and tea and gift exchange and dancing and beautiful Native songs…and we are looking forward to all that and more magic, we are absolutely sure, to come.

April is Earth month and seed planting time, so the Bay View Drum & Journey Circle is planting some seeds, too. We have lots of news this month!

Seed 1: We are moving! Beginning with our circle on July 22, 2016, we will meet each month at A Space for Change Movement Studio & Wellness Center, inside PT Plus Bay View, located in the Chase Commerce Center at the corner of Oklahoma Avenue and Chase Avenue. Our new host, Dr. Carol Dusold, is a physical therapist and Brown Belt Nia Teacher. She facilitates personal and community healing and growth through the activities held in A Space for Change, which include yoga, Nia Technique, sound healing, and meditation classes and events. In the coming months, we will share more about this new venue, including photos and directions, on our website, Facebook page, and blogs. For now, a big THANK YOU! to Dr. Carol Dusold for inviting us to drum and journey in your beautiful studio!

A Space for Change does not yet have a website or FB page, but they are both in process. More info to come soon! Meanwhile if you want to stop in and say hello, or if you need a terrific physical therapist (Carol Dusold, DPT), want to attend a great yoga class (Ricky Heldt, Open Lotus Yoga) or breathwork session (Jayne Ader), get some Reiki or raindrop therapy (Michele Tegen, Wing Shadow Healing), or take a Nia, meditation, or art class (Sally/12 Stones Healing is leading a Mandala Meditation with Zentangle Workshop there on May 7):

PT Plus/A Space For Change Movement Studio & Wellness Center

3073 S Chase Ave. Building 28, Suite #630
Milwaukee, WI 53207

(entrance on Oklahoma just west of Chase)
(414) 292-3275

(Note: We will continue to meet at the Marian Center April, May, and June.)

Seed 2: We are planning to co-host periodic sacred fire ceremonies and despacho offering ceremonies with the Pastor Karen Hagen and the Living Waters Contemplative Life Center at Tippecanoe Presbyterian Church (aka “Tippe”), which is located just to the west of Bay View proper. Their space is sweet and peaceful, and includes an outdoor fire pit, community gardens, and labyrinth. All people, faith traditions, and healing modalities are respected. We will be sharing information about their healing events on our website and in our blog.

In May, Living Waters at Tippe is offering “Ocean of Devotion” -- A Gong-Wash, Singing-Bowl, Sound-Healing Meditation with Preston Klik, Saturday May 21, 6 p.m. Gentle but dynamic, lit by candles, this cinematic musical odyssey is as beautiful to the eye as it is to the ear, heart, body, and mind. $20 offering. This 90-minute event includes an intentional talk with Preston, a sound meditation for 60 minutes, closing with a group share. Bring a cushion or use one of theirs…eye masks available for your use. Hosted at Tippecanoe Church, 125 W. Saveland Avenue in the Bay View area of Milwaukee. Visit tippechurch.org for more information.

Please visit and Like Tippe Church on Facebook! We are looking forward to our collaboration with Pastor Karen Hagen and this community resource.

Seed 3: We want your help! Every month Holly and Sally do a lot to make the circle happen without a hitch. Help us with setup and takedown if you can come early (4:30-5:30). Offer to set up chairs; put up signs; smudge arriving visitors; fill up the teapot; bring tea or juice or treats to share; donate a drum or shaker; be a sponsor; make an online donation via PayPal; take some postcards to share in your community; share, like, and repost our events/blogs on social media…this is your circle. We greatly appreciate your monetary donations; but if you just can’t give much, time and energy are also very much appreciated!

So, what seeds are you/have you planted? We will journey this month to the seeds themselves & their potential to see what we need to do to ensure they break out of the ground and reach for the sky! We invite you to Drum & Journey with us, on the fifth Friday, April 29, in Rosetto Hall, Room 216, at the Marian Center for Nonprofits, from 6 to 9 PM.

Peace and Blessings,

Sally & Holly
