October Drum & Journey Circle - Our Ancestors

Friends of the Circle, Autumn Greetings!

Hoping that all of you have been enjoying and celebrating the turning of the leaves and the cooler weather. I've really been loving these past few weeks by spending as much time outdoors as possible. (In fact, last weekend, I found myself camping with the bison in the Badlands -- not a bad way to pass the time!)

This month, our Circle's intention is to focus upon our ancestors. Last year, we created a community ancestor altar, and we'll do the same this year, as well. I invite you to participate by bringing along pictures and/or mementos of your loved ones and relatives who've passed on as a way to honor and remember them. You may put these items on the large table altar for the duration of the evening while we drum and journey.

In some traditions, ancestors are remembered and venerated around this time of the year. You may have heard of All Souls' Day, Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), and Samhain, for example. Often when we think of our ancestors, we think of our own lives... and our own mortality, too. This reflection can give us a renewed sense of purpose, help us reprioritize different aspects of our lives, and encourage us to make the most of the time we have here.

We will meet, drum, and journey indoors, beginning at 6pm, at the Space for Change Movement Studio and Wellness Center.

Peace and blessings,

Holly
